It is clear and simple, isn’t it? We instantly know it when we see Charisma, we feel it, and no one needs to explain it to us. Charismatic Leadership is one of the many unique Leadership Development Skills Gandhi had.
Whether you liked Gandhi or not, you could see that he put himself on the line for what he believed in. And that is one of the many leadership development skills that he practiced whether he was consciously aware of it or not, it made him a charismatic leader.
He was honest with his personal convictions, and values, and that made him strong and Charismatic.
What Is Charismatic Leadership All About?
This is a question that gets explored in Leadership Development Training Seminars and think-tanks throughout the professional world.
Charisma is not an easy term to explain but it’s easily felt when you deal with a charismatic person.
The term charisma naturally goes with leadership. But it seems that charisma “joins in” when the leader leads “BY EXAMPLE”, which means their words and promises are always followed by actions.
Charismatic Leadership sometimes happens naturally in a person and sometimes a person becomes charismatic over time, because of many small efforts that add up to success over time.
Leadership development is an ongoing process, and if and when the person becomes charismatic the quality will “ radiate out” of them and will be felt by others.
When you are a Charismatic Leader, you live by moral values and you have a belief system that people can trust.
For that to be the case a leader must be the same whether they are in their company or in the grocery store!!!
Authentic Leadership Is Charismatic
An Authentic Leader sees his personal life to be an extension and a reflection of his professional life and vice versa, which means that his own life leadership skills help him/her lead others.
In other words, one life supports the other. It comes down to using every situation to practice being at your best and using every opportunity to develop excellence.
ALERT! There have been many “so-called” Charismatic Leaders, who exercised their true beliefs and convictions in a cruel way! That is NOT the true meaning of Charisma!
The most important ingredient in Authentic Charismatic Leadership, is the love of ALL human beings, regardless of race, creed or religious beliefs.
Their love of people opens the door for people to love and trust them. It’s not personal, its a VALUE!
Leaders who act in dissonance with their value systems become disjointed, egotistical an ultimately very weak!
How Does It Work?
It goes like that, if you as a leader, develop patience then you’ll be firstly patient with yourself, from which you’ll get the integrity, energy, and power to be patient with others.
If you are humble about your own life endeavor, you will be humble with others, and so on, and so on…the connection is as clear as daylight.
Anything else is fake and usually shows its true colors when the cheaps are down. Either under pressure or when they need to “pay a price”.
If a person is not willing to pay a price for the values they uphold then they are not true values and Charisma doesn’t even enter the scene.
Clearly, if a person in a leadership position is truly humble, then their humbleness will come across when they are tested. Their humility will be upfront and so will their charisma.
Unfortunately, in this day and age, given the reality in which we live, these words seem almost like a fantasy!
If heads of states seem to easily trade values for money what will the masses think about leadership?
But…it doesn’t make this message less valid.
To those who Lead and wish to be honest to their leadership role, and to those who aspire for long term Authentic & Charismatic Leadership Development the following question is asked:
Do you lead your own life in such a way that gives you the moral backing to Lead others?
